February is coming to a close so it’s time to report my monthly dividends. In addition to monthly dividends, I also purchased some Valero Energy (VLO) stock. The addition of VLO should add approximately $18 to my 2016 annual dividends. Energy stocks are down and VLO was near a 52-week low so I decided to pick up some for my portfolio.
FEBRUARY DIVIDENDS
ROTH IRA | |
Symbol | Dividend |
AAPL | $3.74 |
CLX | $5.57 |
PG | $0.70 |
PG | $5.44 |
MORL | $0.40 |
HCP | $5.62 |
LOYAL3 | |
Symbol | Dividend |
HAS | $0.49 |
SBUX | $0.10 |
TOTAL: $22.06
The $22.06 I received in February 2016 is almost $7.00 more than what I received in February 2015. While it is a small increase it is an increase nonetheless.
Great results. As you stated, an increase is an increase which just shows the power of holding long term dividend payers and raisers… an ever increasing passive income stream. Thanks for sharing.

I haven’t made as many purchases lately because I’m trying to pay off some debt. I seem to go back and forth between investing and paying down student loans. I can’t wait for the day that my student loan debt is $0.

Hey Dear Dividend,
Great progress! Congrats on your purchase as well.
Just wondering, why is PG twice in your table?
Best wishes, DfS

I have PG in two different brokerage accounts. I originally opened an account with my bank but later opened a Roth IRA with Optionshouse which has a commission fee that is about $5 per trade. PG shows up twice in my spreadsheet because of that.

That $7 raise from last year is actually about 50% over what you made this time in 2015. That’s actually a pretty good increase, even though the dollar amount might not be massive. Slow and steady wins the race. I’m looking forward to the AAPL raise that’s expected next quarter.

I agree. I’ll take any increase no matter the size of it. I’m a little worried about some of my energy stocks either cutting or not increasing their dividends.

Any year-over-year monthly increase in dividends is good. It takes time to get the ball rolling but in time it will roll on its own.

The snowball is growing even though I’ve cut back on my investing for the time being. It’s nice to see it work all by itself.
